portrait commission guidelines

 

Many thanks for your interest in my work. When considering a portrait commission, key things for you to decide include: 

  • Subject - who or what, and composition (eg full figure, multiple figures, face only)

  • Size - below sizes are guidelines for typical formats, I can go larger or smaller if interested, and have painted on triangular and circular surfaces

  • Medium - drawing or painting? If it’s a drawing, do you prefer pencil, ink, or charcoal? If painting, watercolor or oil? on canvas or wood panel? I can send you additional examples of prior work in various media if helpful

  • Timing - do you have a deadline?
